<\/p>\n[24 October 2023] Rail operator c2c has created a new Safety, Sustainability and Compliance department, with Stuart Browning appointed to lead the new function.<\/p>\n

Formerly the firm\u2019s Head of Safety and Environment, Stuart has stepped into the role of Safety, Sustainability and Compliance Director with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
Rob Mullen, Managing Director, said, \u201cI am absolutely delighted to announce Stuart\u2019s appointment and the creation of this new department. The expanded remit of our Safety and Environment team to incorporate compliance forms part of our overall strategy by enhancing our underlying governance and holding ourselves to account for the things we commit to deliver.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have additionally updated the term ‘Environment’ to ‘Sustainability’ to better reflect the wider responsibilities and value of the business,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Stuart joined the south Essex and east London rail operator in March this year from Govia Thameslink Railway, where he served latterly as Head of Operational Improvement for their Thameslink and Great Northern brands. Prior to this he was at Great Western Railway, as Head of Operations Interface. He has also held various operational safety and performance improvement roles at Network Rail during his 21-year career in the industry.<\/p>\n
Stuart said, \u201cIt\u2019s a real honour to be taking up this new role, the creation of which really underpins the commitment that c2c is making to the safety and wellbeing of colleagues, customers, and the communities we serve. It\u2019s an exciting time to be at c2c; we have a great opportunity to ensure we can deliver rail services that transform people’s lives in a safe and sustainable manner.<\/p>\n
