{"id":294622,"date":"2024-05-17T08:59:44","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T08:59:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.c2c-online.co.uk\/?p=294622"},"modified":"2024-05-17T09:00:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T09:00:09","slug":"c2cs-sustainability-targets-validated-by-sbti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.c2c-online.co.uk\/media-centre\/latest-news\/c2cs-sustainability-targets-validated-by-sbti\/","title":{"rendered":"c2c&#8217;s sustainability targets validated by SBTi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">c2c has today announced that its\u00a0near-term (2030) and net-zero science-based targets (2050), outlined in the company\u2019s Decarbonisation Strategy, have been validated\u00a0by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the global body responsible for enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">The SBTi, which is focused on accelerating companies across the world to half their emissions before 2030, and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050, is a collaboration between the United Nations Global Compact (CDP), World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and is one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">The SBTi also defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies\u2019 targets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">Commenting on c2c\u2019s sustainability targets, Managing Director, Rob Mullen, said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">\u201cc2c remains fully focused on reducing harmful emissions, while providing a sustainable and successful railway for our customers, colleagues and communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">\u201cOur ambitious near and long-term science-based targets, recently validated by the SBTi, clearly demonstrate our commitment to reaching net-zero Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions right across the business by 2050.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><b>c2c\u2019s validated targets<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><i>Overall Net-Zero Target<\/i><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_xmsolistparagraph\">c2c has committed to reaching net-zero Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions across the value chain by FY2050.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><i>Near-Term Targets<\/i><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_xmsonormal\">c2c has committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by FY2030 from a FY2022 base year.
