The MP for Castle Point, Dame Rebecca Harris, has welcomed the initial success of pay as you go with contactless ticketing across the c2c network, as the rail company announces that over 50,000 contactless journeys (taps in and out) have already been recorded since launching on 2 February.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

c2c has today announced that pay as you go with contactless ticketing is proving to be a hit with customers, with over 50,000 tapping in and out across the c2c network during the first two weeks since being launched.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the beginning of the month customers have been able travel across the entire c2c route, into and around London and the wider pay as you go area with a single contactless payment card or device, making c2c the only national rail operator offering a fully contactless network.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is great to see that contactless ticketing has been so well received by c2c customers, with so much positive feedback received in the first two weeks since it was launched.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was also good to hear how customers have been using this ticketing option when travelling to and from my local station of Benfleet, with over 5,000 taps in and out already.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pay as you go with contactless is now available during both the peak and off-peak to all customers in possession of a valid contactless payment card or device (for example, mobile phone or smart watch).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the c2c network, this payment method can be used across London and the wider pay as you go with contactless area, with the best value adult fare calculated and charged for journeys made on the day and time of travel.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For most people, this fare is the same as a ticket bought on the day. Customers can also benefit from Monday to Sunday price capping when travelling into and within London.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
