Local rail company Trenitalia c2c has announced that over 250,000 contactless payment taps in and out at its new contactless stations have been recorded since the initiative launched in February.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

c2c has today announced that pay as you go with contactless ticketing continues to be a massive hit with customers, with over a quarter of a million taps in and out made at new contactless stations* on the c2c network since being launched.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From Sunday 2 February, customers have been able travel across the entire c2c route, into and around London and the wider pay as you go area using a single contactless payment card or device, making c2c the only national rail operator offering a fully contactless network.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting,<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Rob Mullen, Managing Director at c2c, said: <\/span>\u201cIt is great to see that so many of our customers are already switching to pay as you go with contactless ticketing, making it quicker and easier for them to access our services than ever before.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRight across the route we are seeing thousands of customers tapping in and out with a contactless card or device at our stations every day for their commute to work, shopping trips and weekend leisure activities.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rob continued:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cTo have reached a quarter of a million contactless taps in under 50 days is simply incredible, and these early figures clearly demonstrate just how popular this new and additional ticketing and payment option is going to be with our customers.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pay as you go with contactless is available during both the peak and off-peak to all customers in possession of a valid contactless payment card or device (for example, mobile phone or smart watch).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the c2c network, this ticketing and payment method can be used across London and the wider pay as you go with contactless area, with the best value adult fare calculated and charged for journeys made on the day and time of travel.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For most people, this fare is the same as a ticket bought on the day. Customers can also benefit from Monday to Sunday price capping when travelling into and within London.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

*<\/span> On Sunday 2 February, pay as you go with contactless ticketing launched at Tilbury Town, East Tilbury, Stanford-le-Hope, West Horndon, Laindon, Basildon, Pitsea, Benfleet, Leigh-on-Sea, Chalkwell, Westcliff, Southend Central, Southend East, Thorpe Bay and Shoeburyness stations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
