Check train travel advice on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalrail.co.uk\/\">National Rail Enquiries.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Donna Thorpe, c2c\u2019s Director of Asset, said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased to announce this work, as we recognise that customers in Rainham have been waiting for an improved customer experience at their station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe platforms at Rainham are around 50 years old and they need maintenance to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work taking place will disrupt people\u2019s journeys and unfortunately this is unavoidable as we need to complete the work on both platforms, one after the other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be c2c staff at the station to help ensure customers journeys are as easy as possible, with a rail replacement bus service operating between adjacent stations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There will be a restricted timetable on the Rainham line while the renewal works take place at the station.<\/p>\n<p>From Thursday 24 July to Thursday 7 August, trains towards London will not stop at Rainham station.<\/p>\n<p>From Friday 8 August to Saturday 23 August, trains towards Grays will not stop at Rainham station.<\/p>\n<p>This means that each platform at Rainham station will be closed for a period of two weeks, on the dates above.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers requiring mobility assistance (MIP\/VIP) for their journey are advised to contact c2c in advance of travel so we can ensure a member of staff is available to assist them if needed.\u00a0 During the works, it may be necessary to travel one stop in the opposite direction to access train services due to the closure.<\/p>\n<p>-ENDS-<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notes to Editors\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rail replacement service from Rainham station\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The rail replacement service will be running approximately every 15 minutes in the peak and every 30 minutes off-peak and weekends, throughout the four-week period.<\/p>\n<p>In order to ensure the buses connected with trains at both ends, the buses have been split into two separate services (Purfleet to Rainham and Rainham to Dagenham Dock).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rail replacement buses will operate\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>24\/07-07\/08:\u00a0\u00a0Buses will operate\u00a0from Purfleet to Rainham, and Rainham to Dagenham Dock:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Customers travelling from Rainham towards London should use rail replacement buses to Dagenham Dock and change for trains towards Fenchurch St<\/p>\n<p>Customers travelling to Rainham from Purfleet, Grays etc. should change at Purfleet for rail replacement buses to Rainham<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>08-23\/08: Buses will operate\u00a0from Dagenham Dock to Rainham, and Rainham to Purfleet:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Customers travelling from London to Rainham should change at Dagenham Dock for rail replacement buses to Rainham<\/p>\n<p>Customers travelling from Rainham to Purfleet, Grays etc. should use rail replacement buses to Purfleet and change for trains towards Grays<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advice for customers \u2013 ticketing and contactless payments advice\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Customers must tap in and out at the start and end of each journey.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid additional charging, customers using contactless payment should tap in following the bus journeys at Dagenham Dock when travelling London bound and at Purfleet when travelling Southend Bound.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Station facilities during the works\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the works, the smaller car park beside the station building will remain closed, limiting disabled parking to the two bays directly outside the station.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that toilets will not be available during the closure of Platform 2.<\/p>\n<p>Additional staff will be on site throughout the works to provide information and assist customers.<\/p>\n<p>About c2c<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>c2c is the award-winning train operator running services between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, serving 26 stations in East London and South Essex.<\/li>\n<li>Owned by Trenitalia, c2c is one of the UK\u2019s most punctual and popular train operators and nearly 35.8 million journeys are made on its services every year.<\/li>\n<li>Italian-based Trenitalia is one of Europe\u2019s leading rail operators and the passenger rail arm of FS Italiane Group.<\/li>\n<li>For more information email <a href=\"mailto:mediaenquiries@c2crail.net\">mediaenquiries@c2crail.net\u202f<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>-ENDS-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local train operator Trenitalia c2c has confirmed that it will be undertaking work to renew substantial lengths of both platforms at Rainham station between Thursday 24 July and Saturday 23 August.
