To mark World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), local rail operator c2c Railway is pleased to welcome its new Safeguarding and Security Manager, Kamaldeep Wallis to the business.<\/p>\n

Kamaldeep (Kam) isn\u2019t just strong in her approach to safeguarding \u2013 she\u2019s also a competitor in strongwoman competitions, a sport that demands significant resilience and determination. These same qualities are central to her work protecting vulnerable individuals across the railway network.<\/p>\n

World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about mental health and the small steps we can all take to make a difference. At c2c, the safeguarding of our customers is our highest priority; from colleague training to identifying vulnerable individuals, the c2c team works hard to ensure every passenger feels safe and supported.<\/p>\n

Kam Wallis, c2c Railway Safeguarding Manager, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this role, my priority is to ensure staff feel supported when dealing with safeguarding and security issues. I want to give them the confidence to engage with the community effectively, while providing the right tools and training to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cStaff welfare and reducing assaults are paramount, and creating a safer railway environment is at the heart of c2c\u2019s values. I\u2019m excited to get stuck into my role here at c2c and I look forward to meeting people across the business while achieving many milestones together.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rob Mullen, c2c Railway Managing Director, said:<\/p>\n

Iain Palmer, c2c Railway Head of Revenue Protection and Security, said:<\/p>\n

c2c continues to work closely with its charity partners to ensure the mental health and wellbeing of its passengers<\/span>. The recent Kick4Kindness charity football tournament, organised by c2c and held at Southend United\u2019s Roots Hall stadium was held \u00a0in aid of Basildon Mind and Samaritans,\u00a0raising over \u00a37,000.<\/a><\/p>\n

Demonstrating its commitment to the safeguarding and wellbeing of its customers and local communities,\u00a0c2c recently became the first train operator to partner with Stamp Out Spiking<\/a>\u00a0– a national campaign dedicated to tackling the growing problem of drink spiking and supporting victims across the UK.<\/p>\n
