c2c Railway is shining a spotlight on its rising young talent as UK Youth Work Week (3\u20139 November) kicks off, proudly celebrating the achievements and impact of its youth workforce in teams across the East London and South Essex rail operator.<\/p>\n

There are a variety of employment programmes in place at c2c. In the last three years, c2c has recruited 18 young people into permanent roles via its work experience programme with The King\u2019s Trust, \u2018Get into Rail,\u2019 supporting youth employment in its local communities.<\/p>\n

Rob Mullen, c2c\u2019s Managing Director, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cAt c2c, we pride ourselves in continually looking for new, young talent that can come in at any level with a \u2018can-do attitude\u2019 and be moulded by our incredible experienced colleagues into integral members of the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe railway offers young people the chance to explore so many directions and I am so proud of our Recruitment and Learning & Development teams, who are amazing at identifying new young talent through our various programmes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also are very proud to be leading the industry by creating a bold and dynamic workforce that serves the people of its local communities with passion and pride \u2013 while keeping c2c at the top of the charts as one of the best rail operators in the UK.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Lindsey Keeling, c2c\u2019s Office Coordinator, joined the c2c team earlier this year, following her successful completion of the Get into Rail programme with The King\u2019s Trust.<\/p>\n

Lindsey said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was amazing to go through c2c and The King\u2019s Trust\u2019s Get into Rail programme and come out the other side with my role.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jess Lake, Head of Learning & Development, said:<\/p>\n

Through programmes like Get into Rail<\/em>\u00a0and our apprenticeships, we\u2019re not just developing skills \u2014 we\u2019re helping individuals build confidence, purpose and long-term careers. Seeing our young colleagues grow into valued professionals is what makes learning and development so rewarding.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Furthermore, through its apprenticeship programme, c2c has found great talent \u2013 such as HR Recruitment Advisor Erin Godfrey. Erin started working at c2c as a HR Apprentice and quickly impressed her colleagues with her committed attitude and team spirit.<\/p>\n

Following her apprenticeship, Erin was recently promoted to HR Recruitment Advisor and is a key asset to the c2c team. She was shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year Award at the Young Rail Professional Awards 2025 and recently completed the 30-mile route in c2c\u2019s 2025 Ultra Marathon (in aid of Gold Geese).<\/p>\n

Erin said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking for c2c is an incredible experience. Not only am I learning so much about the rail industry, but the organisation really cares about the wellbeing and health of its colleagues.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I look back from when I first started, it has been an amazing journey \u2013 I have been given opportunities and found a home at c2c. When I see new apprentice roles coming into the business, it is always so interesting to remember where I started from and how far I have come in such a short time.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
