Local train operator c2c Railway Ltd and Jen Craft Thurrock MP met with customers and residents at Chafford Hundred station on Friday, 28 November for a \u2018street meet\u2019 on safety in the lead up to Christmas.<\/p>\n

They were also joined by Councillor Aaron Green, of West Thurrock and South Stifford ward and c2c\u2019s dedicated British Transport Police officers, as well as c2c\u2019s security partner, Amulet, who spoke with local residents about their experiences in and around the station.<\/p>\n

Kamaldeep Wallis, c2c Security and Safeguarding Manager was at the event, which also formed part of the national 16 days of action against gender-based violence campaign, following White Ribbon Day on Tuesday, 26 November.<\/p>\n

Kamaldeep Wallis, c2c Safeguarding and Security Manager, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cEnsuring we are out on the route as much as we can, listening to our customers and working with our partners like Jen Craft MP is crucial to how we operate as a railway.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe heard directly from customers and I would like to thank everyone who came to say hello today. I would also like to remind everyone that staff from our security partner Amulet are also at stations on a daily basis alongside our c2c colleagues. They are there to help you and support you on your c2c journey.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

c2c officially marked its White Ribbon Accreditation with a special train decal last week, underscoring our commitment as a network to ending male violence against women and girls. The prestigious accreditation is granted to organisations that have implemented robust strategies to support the cause and promote gender equality.<\/p>\n

Jen Craft MP said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis meeting was a really useful opportunity to hear directly from local residents about their experiences of using the station.<\/p>\n

“I’m grateful to c2c and their partners for joining this discussion, to understand how we can address some of these issues that have been raised in the past and ensure everyone feels safe using the station.<\/p>\n

“I want to keep working collaboratively to improve the experience of passengers travelling to and from the station, including working with the Council to improve some of the lighting in the area.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As well being White Ribbon accredited and recently the first train operator to confirm membership of the anti-spiking charity, Stamp Out Spiking, we c2c recently reaffirmed our commitment to safeguarding by securing full re-accreditation as part of the 2025\/26 Safeguarding on Rail Scheme (SRS), scoring 92% in the assessment audit.<\/p>\n

The Safeguarding on Rail Scheme (SRS) is a joint initiative awarded by British Transport Police (BTP) and Department for Transport (DfT) on an annual basis to train operating companies to protect vulnerable people on the UK rail network and is a contractual obligation for all operators, with accreditation based on assessments of their safeguarding practices.<\/p>\n
