c2c is running its\u00a0very first \u2018Go Green\u2019 next week to help raise awareness around climate change and to share our commitment to making\u00a0our impact on the environment as small as possible.<\/p>\n
As part of the initiatives, we are encouraging customers to ditch the car and take the train by offering a 50% discount code during the week, for use on off-peak tickets bought for travel between\u00a001 October -03 November.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for c2c said: \u201cRail travel is one of the greenest forms of public transport. We\u2019re in a great position to be advocates for going greener. This week is a celebration of all the ways we are green, and a commitment to being even greener in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some of the ways we will be showing our commitment for the environment over green week is\u00a0sharing wildflower seeds for station staff to scatter around stations, seeking advice from the Essex Wildlife Trust\u00a0on how\u00a0to\u00a0use\u00a0disused\u00a0land around the railways and\u00a0stations to\u00a0protect local\u00a0wildlife, and talking about\u00a0more eco friendly\u00a0ways\u00a0for customers\u00a0to get to and from the station.<\/p>\n
John More, Living Landscape Coordinator for Essex Wildlife Trust said: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to be working with c2c rail on this project raising awareness around the potential wildlife value \u00a0of how to use disused land and how it can be improved to it promote wildlife.\u201d<\/p>\n
We are also fortunate to have many beautiful nature reserves close to our stations and we’re hoping the 50% discount encourages our customers to get outdoors and explore the woodlands, coastal paths and nature parks of South Essex.<\/p>\n
